  • At this time, Belong Bishop Arts, PLLC is not directly contracted with insurance providers, and are considered out-of-network. This path provides the ability to focus fully on providing care with the level of attention, flexibility, and confidentiality that matters most to you. It also allows you and I to make decisions together about your counseling, without having to work within an insurer’s limits on session type or length.

As a private-pay practice, payment is collected at the time of each session. I am happy to provide you with documentation to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement (called a Superbill), depending on your out-of-network mental health benefits. Please note that submitting a claim typically requires a mental health diagnosis to be recorded.

For questions about your potential coverage or reimbursement, you are encouraged to reach out directly to your insurance provider. You may consider asking the following questions to understand what out of network benefits are available to you through your plan:

    • I am seeking information on my mental health benefits for outpatient individual psychotherapy in an office setting, CPT code 90834. Does my plan cover out network providers for this service? If so, what is the coverage and my patient responsibility? Is telehealth covered the same or differently?

    • My therapist charges $145. Is this within the Allowed Amount or UCR (Usual, Customary, and Reasonable Fee) for an Out-of-Network Provider?  If not, what is the Allowed Amount?

    • Is pre-authorization required?

    • Are there any limits to the number of sessions per year?

    • How do I submit superbills to the plan for reimbursement?

  • Acceptable methods of payment are debit/credit cards (Discover, MasterCard, Visa, AMEX), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and cash.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes long and can be extended for an additional rate. Sessions end on time for the courtesy of other clients.

  • The length and pace of therapy are unique to each person. Everyone comes with their own strengths, challenges, and experiences, and each concern is different. That said, therapy often lasts between 8 and 20 sessions, though progress can be faster when clients actively engage and practice between sessions.

I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions to build a strong foundation and maintain momentum. Over time, the frequency often naturally tapers as decided together by you and I. Many clients choose to continue counseling after initial goals are met, using sessions as occasional “check-ins” to stay on track and process any new challenges in a safe, familiar space.

Throughout your time in therapy, the frequency and length of sessions are regularly reviewed together. The goal is to ensure that therapy supports your needs in a meaningful and timely way, without unnecessary stress or expense, while honoring your journey and progress.
